On 01.06.2023, María Eugenia Toimil-Molares took up the professorship for Ion-Beam-Modified Materials at our department. With this, she also takes over the head of the Materials Research Department at the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung.

The 48-year-old was head of the Ion-Track Nanotechnology Group at the GSI. Previous stations included Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore (USA) and the University of California Berkeley (USA).
